El Chico’s Dressing

There is a Mexican Restaurant in Shreveport, Louisiana called El Chico’s.  Shreveport is the only location that makes this dressing.  It’s very versatile; you can eat it with chips, add it to your taco salad, tacos, fajitas, and much more.

1/2 – 3/4 cup of Miracle Whip Salad Dressing (do not use real mayo)

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon white pepper

1  1/2 teaspoons sugar

1/2 cup of milk

Mix all together and chill at least 2 hours. The mixture will thicken when chilled.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’ve had servers, in other states, look at me like I had three heads, when I ordered the house dressing. Now we know! Haha!

    A sincere great gratitude!

This has been a Shreveport treat ever since the El Chico opened on Greenwood Road over 50 years — it is still in the same location –Nicky’s and Trejo’s also serve it here in Shreveport, the cultural center of the Ark – La – Tex — we also make the best tarter sauce

  6. Thank you so much for this! I’m a Shreveport girl that has moved to Europe and sometimes I get such a hankering for proper Taco Salad. Is this the same one that Nicky’s uses as well? They always tasted the same to me. I’m so tickled to have this recipe! I’ll be making it this weekend!

  7. The El Chicos in Texas use this house dressing too. They said it’s shipped in with their other supplies.

Thanks. I have been scouring the internet for the past hour trying to find this recipe. I usually get this “house dressing” at a Mexican restaurant in Natchitoches. I’m so happy to have the recipe!
